Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 September 2026
Swipe ("we", "us") is operated by Suharsh. This policy explains what we collect through the Swipe app, why, and how you can control it.
Who can use Swipe
Swipe is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We ask for your date of birth during signup and do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the app.
What we collect
Information you provide
- Phone number (used to sign you in — no password)
- Name, date of birth, gender, and dating preferences
- Photos you upload to your profile
- Bio, hobbies, and other profile details you choose to add
- Messages you send to your matches
- Reports you file about other users
Information collected automatically
- Location — used to show you nearby profiles and calculate distance. You can deny this permission; the app still works, just without distance-based matching.
- Device push token — used to send you notifications about matches and messages. Not shared with anyone outside Swipe.
- Basic usage events (e.g. app opened, onboarding completed) — used to understand how the app is used and to fix problems.
What we do NOT collect
- Your phone contacts. Swipe does not request or access your address book.
- Your face verification photo. When you verify your account, the selfie you take is analysed entirely on your device to confirm it's a real face — the photo itself is never uploaded or stored anywhere. Only the result (verified: yes/no) is saved.
How we use your information
- To create and run your profile and show you potential matches
- To let you message people you've matched with
- To detect and act on fake accounts, harassment, and abuse
- To send you notifications about matches, messages, and account status
- To provide customer support
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
Swipe relies on a small number of service providers to operate:
- Firebase (Google) — account sign-in, our database, and push notifications
- Cloudinary — hosting for the photos you upload to your profile
- Payment processors — only if and when you make a payment (Swipe is free to use at launch, with no payments required)
These providers only receive what they need to perform their function and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
AI reply suggestions
Swipe can suggest replies for you in chat. When a suggestion is generated, the recent messages from that conversation (and your match's first name) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to produce the suggestions. This happens through our own server, so your identity is not shared — Anthropic receives the conversation text only, not your name, phone number, email, or photos.
The suggestions are generated and returned immediately. Your messages are not used to train AI models.
Other users only ever see what you choose to put on your profile. We never share your phone number, exact location, or account settings with other users.
Your controls
- Edit or remove anything on your profile at any time
- Block or report another user directly from the app
- Turn off location access in your phone's settings
- Delete your account and data — in the app under Settings, or via our account deletion page
Data retention
When you delete your account, your profile, photos, and messages are removed. We may keep limited records (such as reports filed against an account) for a short period where needed to investigate abuse or meet a legal obligation.
Children
Swipe is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you in the app.
